The role’s responsibility and accountability play a critical part for the R&D product development team and the development of the system’s capability. The successful applicant will lead UAV flight testing and develop procedures to support airworthiness, maintenance, reliability, training, manuals, and other support development activities for the Cerberus GL UAV platform under development. Your input will be essential to the development of the Cerberus UAS and the R&D engineering team. Working location is primarily based in Brisbane; however, flight testing occurs out in the field on private/rural land. You will be expected to attend other work locations to support test requirements.
As an UAV Test Pilot you can anticipate some of your day-to-day tasks to include:
Directly responsible for UAV flight testing activities of the company UAV products being developed.
Coordinate and schedule all flight-testing campaign to ensure test and safety objectives are satisfied.
Critically evaluate system performance and report post flight feedback to the R&D engineering team to ensure capability objectives are achieved.
Perform and develop procedures for maintenance (defects, spares & repairs), airworthiness (reliability tracking) and training (piloting & maintenance) for the UAV under development.
Organise and manage flight and maintenance logs for compliance purposes.

The experience and skillset best suited to this role include:
RC (remote control) model fixed wing or multirotor piloting experience
Aircraft Maintenance Engineering (AME) or Mechanical / Aerospace / Mechatronic Engineering Degree background
Passion for innovation and to work in a fast paced but rewarding environment
Ability to focus on specific problems and prioritise tasks in order to deliver best value to the business and stakeholders
Ability to give constructive feedback on flight testing and effectively report accordingly
Eligibility and willingness to obtain an Australian Department of Defence security clearance
Additionally, it would be desirable that you have:
CASA remote pilot licence (RePL) and Aircraft Radio Operator’s Certificate (ARoC)
Defence aviation background
Knowledge on inertial and aiding sensors (accelerometers, gyroscopes, magnetometers), GPS and digital peripheral devices
Experience with commercial-off-shelf UAVs and autopilot systems
