Job Description
Key Accountabilities
Plan and conduct all aspects of unmanned aircraft pilot training
Maintain complete records of training
Perform/facilitate hazard identification and safety risk analysis
Monitor corrective actions and evaluate their results
Maintain UAS Safety Management System (SMS) documentation and recordsSubject matter expert in flight equipment and systems maintenance and management
Advise the UAS Principal Flight Instructor, UAS Safety Manager, and/or the UAS Director on overall training needs the status of individual pilot trainingEvaluate a student’s performance against established training standards and make recommendations concerning their status
Implementation of UAS/Geospatial initiatives, software implementation and training, applications, work-flow integration, spatial analysis, GNSS, and other Earth Observation systems ... Continue Reading
Minimum Requirements
Knowledge/Skills
.• Strong interpersonal skills including effective communications, coaching, mentoring, inspiring cooperation, problem solving, etc.
• Thorough knowledge of unmanned aircraft system technology, its applications and aviation regulations.
• Remaining current in developments in the rapidly evolving unmanned aircraft technology and regulatory structure in order to effectively prepare student pilots for current and future operations.
• Understanding human factors in aviation, crew resource management and aeronautical decision making.
• Thorough understanding of aviation safety.
• Be current on the latest procedures regarding pilot training, certification, and safety.• Current and proficient in the aircraft, controllers and related equipment that are used for flight instruction.
• Current and proficient in UAS flight training simulation.
• Ability to identify improvement opportunities in student performance work to help the student understand and overcome deficiencies.
• Convey an understanding of why pilots are trained to standards and how they are set• Ability to think quickly under pressure.
Experience/Education
BA in Aviation, Geography, Engineering, or related Earth ScienceMinimum 3 years’ experience with UAS and GIS systems configuration and implementation
Valid driver's license is required
Travel Requirements
