Three years of full-time wage-earning experience within the past ten years in an approved aviation occupation with the corresponding Federal Aviation
Administration certificate. (Eligible military experience may be used in lieu of civilian licensure)
Knowledge of aviation and aeronautical subjects including but not limited to aviation history, aerodynamics, aircraft instruments, aircraft engines and systems, airports, air traffic control and the national airspace system, federal aviation regulations, aircraft performance and weight and balance, aeromedical factors, aeronautical decision making, aviation weather, aviation weather services, navigation charts/publications and systems, cross country flight planning.
General knowledge of design and delivery issues related to alignment for best results in student achievement
Ability to deliver instruction and manage student behavior
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skillsStudent teaching or approved internship
Additionally, in order to recommend the student to take the FAA Private Pilot written exam, the instructor must hold one of two appropriate certifications:
