Job Description

Highly desired due to remote operations and available aircraft: multi-engine commercial pilot certificate, instrument pilot rating, single engine sea rating, airframe and power plant mechanics license (FAA), and Inspection Authorization License (FAA).
 Flight Instructor Certificate is highly preferred, as this position conducts check-rides and training for subordinate pilot(s). 
Must be self-motivating, capable of working both independently and cooperatively with area management biologists and other regional biologists when establishing and scheduling flight priorities.

Minimum Requirements

Special Note: 
A valid driver's license is required.
Ability to carry and operate firearms. Firearms are required as standard aircraft emergency survival gear primarily for bear encounters/safety.
Single-engine commercial pilot certificate, instrument pilot rating, single-engine sea rating.
 A total of 1,500 hours flying aircraft, including 500 hours as Pilot-in-Command (PIC) fixed-wing aircraft and 250 hours of tailwheel experience. 
Of this required flight time, 250 hours as PIC must be Alaska time (100 hours of which were logged within the 18 months prior to employment).
Highly desired due to remote operations and available aircraft: Multi-engine pilot certificate, Airframe and power plant mechanics license (FAA), and Inspection Authorization License (FAA). It is important to note that regional operations base this pilot in remote locations during field season where emergency repairs may be necessary and where no licensed aircraft mechanic is available. Flight Instructor Certificate is highly preferred, as this position conducts check-rides and training for subordinate pilot(s).
CPR/First Aid Training, and a Medical Certificate will be required as a condition of employment.

Minimum QualificationsCurrent FAA Licensure and class of Medical Certification as a Commercial Pilot or Airline Transport Pilot with ratings, including operating under instrument flight rules, appropriate to the category, class, and type of aircraft flown and directed by the position;
AND
Applicable hours as PIC of appropriate category and class of aircraft predominantly flown and directed by the position that includes 100 minimum hours of flight time in Alaska within the previous 18 months.
